The Sigmund Assessment
Most psychiatric care starts from a blank page, and your first appointment gets spent catching the clinician up. The Sigmund Assessment fixes that. It's a structured digital evaluation your clinician reviews before your first appointment, so they arrive understanding your case and your plan starts further along.

What the Sigmund Assessment Maps
The Sigmund Assessment captures the full clinical picture before you meet your clinician, across seven domains. Mental health rarely lives inside any single one, which is why an evaluation that covers only one or two consistently misses what's driving symptoms. The assessment covers all seven:
Symptom history: what you're experiencing now, in detail, and how long it's been going on.
What's worked and what hasn't: your full treatment history, including prior medication and therapy.
Biology: sleep, nutrition, relevant genetics, and how your physiology shapes how you feel.
Psychology: your history, thinking patterns, and the dynamics that have shaped you over time.
Environment: work pressure, living situation, financial stress, and the conditions you're navigating now.
Social and cultural context: relationships, support systems, identity, and family expectations.
Goals: what your life looks like when you're at your best, and where you want care to take you.
Each domain has measurement instruments behind it, so the profile your clinician reads is structured and specific, ready to act on in minutes rather than a free-form narrative to wade through.
How Matching Works
Getting the right clinician from the start is one of the highest-leverage decisions in psychiatric care, because the relationship between you and your clinician is among the strongest predictors of how well treatment goes.
The Sigmund Assessment follows your conversation with our patient care coordinator, who talks with you about what you're looking for while your profile shows which specialties, approaches, and styles fit best. The match comes together across four dimensions at once:
Clinical Specialty
Treatment Approach
Communication Style
Cultural and identity fit
A patient whose case spans several of the conditions we treat is matched to a clinician trained for that combination. If the fit isn't right after your first appointment or later in your treatment, we use the profile from the Sigmund Assessment to re-match rather than starting from zero.

Grounded in Research
The Integrative Method that the Sigmund Assessment anchors was not only observed in the clinic, but developed through academic research. Dr. Ryan Sultan, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University and Director of the Sultan Lab for Mental Health Informatics, has published peer-reviewed work on ADHD and cannabis use disorder that informs how we assess and treat. The practice houses clinicians affiliated with the National Institutes of Health, Columbia University, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
