Our Story
We built Integrative Psych on one belief: psychiatric care works better when it operates holistically and each patient receives multimodal care from a single provider. Founder Dr. Ryan Sultan, Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University, set out to prove that model.

The short version
Why we built the practice
The founding question was simple: what would psychiatric care look like if it were designed around the patient from the very first step?
The answer came from a pattern Dr. Sultan kept seeing. Patients who arrived with a clear treatment history and a clinician who understood the full context of their lives improved faster than patients whose clinicians were still reconstructing the picture months in. The difference was too large to be coincidence. It was a critical gap.
So the practice was built around the solution. Start from the whole person and build a complete clinical picture before your first appointment. Keep medication, therapy, and lifestyle care with one clinician on one plan. Measure outcomes with validated tools instead of a single weekly check-in. As Dr. Sultan puts it: "Why is it either medication or therapy or exercise or diet? Let's stack it."
That insight became the Sigmund Assessment, a structured evaluation your clinician reviews before you ever sit down together. Your clinician walks into your first appointment already understanding your case, so you begin treatment further along, on a plan grounded in evidence rather than a generic protocol. Dr. Sultan, who also directs the Sultan Lab for Mental Health Informatics, has published peer-reviewed work on ADHD and cannabis use disorder that informs how we assess and treat. For patients who want the detail, that research is open to explore. See how the Integrative Method works, the conditions we treat, and our treatments.
The team we built
A care model is only as strong as the clinicians delivering it, so we built the team around the care rather than the other way around.
The practice houses board-certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners affiliated with the National Institutes of Health, Columbia University, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Their training spans leading academic medical centers, with specialization across CBT, DBT, EMDR, ERP, psychodynamic therapy, and psychopharmacology. Several hold dual board certification in adult and child psychiatry, and the team speaks several languages as the roster grows.
Every clinician is chosen on one test: can they genuinely coordinate medication and therapy in a single plan, with a clinical philosophy built on evidence and measurement? We don't hire to fill a seat. We hire to deliver outcomes, then match you to the clinician best suited to your goals.

Ready to start?
The first step is a consultation. We'll listen to what you're experiencing, explain how the Sigmund Assessment works, and help you decide whether we're the right fit. Available in person at our Manhattan office, or by telehealth anywhere in New York State.
Crisis Resources: We are not an emergency treatment clinic. If you or a loved one is in crisis, call 911, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or go to the nearest emergency room. Integrative Psych is an outpatient practice and is not equipped to provide crisis intervention.
